Exhibition, launch and bookstore plays
Four days of fun for young readers start at noon on Saturday at Zappeion Hall. The League of Book Publishers is holding its fourth annual exhibition of children’s books to celebrate International Children’s Book Day. Children’s writers Zoi Sakilidi and Fotini Tsambra have organized innovative games, theater, a juggler, painting, comics and storytelling. Launches The Hellenic American Union and Shoestring Press present «Collected Poems» by Nick Karouzos and «Nyctivoe» by Dimitris Lyacos, both published by Shoestring Press, on Wednesday, May 2, at 8.30 p.m. Poet and translator Philip Ramp will read from his English translations of Karouzos’s work as well as his own poems. Lyacos and translator Shorsha Sullivan will discuss Lyacos’s play «Nyctivoe.» The presentation is in English. (22 Massalias Street, Kolonaki. For information tel 210.368.0900 [ext.152].) Bookstore plays The Skinovates theater troupe will turn Eleftheroudakis’s flagship store at 17 Panepistimiou Street into a theater this Saturday. Vassilis Traiforos, Sotiria Hatzi and Vangelis Rigas will perform two short one-act plays by Leonidas Tsipis, using the ground floor of the store as their stage.
