Silent Disco (Archangel Music) «Silent Disco» is the second album from Greece’s most open-minded hip-hop act. This latest proposition from frontman Nikitas Klid and his friends is probably rock’n’roll flavored, in the wider sense of the term, where elements such as electronica, dub, and ethnic merge with unanticipated samples, electric guitars, rapping and extremely abstract lyrics. It all amounts to something like a mural of the neurotic side of this country in 2007. Don’t expect catchy singles and collaborations with well-known guests. This album requires a few careful listens before it begins to open up, but once there, it will be worth the time and effort. Amid all this project’s chaos there is substance of the sort lacking from the Greek circuit. It’s very well produced, too.
