Mubarak attends Hellenistic Egypt conference

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s recent visit to Greece coincided with a conference on Hellenistic Egypt organized by the Friends of the Alexandra Library (FAM) at the Theodoros Karatzas Amphitheater. Guests included Culture Minister Michalis Liapis, Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis, Deputy Education Minister Spyros Taliadouros, businessman Vardis Vardinoyiannis and his wife, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyianni, the only Greek member of the board of the library and who sat in the front row with Mubarak and his wife Suzanne. Mubarak was welcomed by the chairman of the FAM, former minister Andreas Zaimis and Marianna Vardinoyianni, and was awarded the association’s Gold Medal.
