Grammy-winning metal act to rock in Greece tonight

Linkin Park, known for its energetic live performances, has received numerous music awards and notched up more than 60 million sales worldwide. The nu metal band is due to perform at the Terra Vibe Park in Malakassa this evening. The act consists of vocalist Chester Bennington, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, bassist Dave «Phoenix» Farrell as well as vocalist Mike Shinoda. It was founded in Los Angeles in 1996 and its name derives from the band members’ habit of driving around Lincoln Park in Santa Monica. Its debut album, «Hybrid Theory,» sold 12 million copies around over the world and won a Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance (it was also nominated for two more Grammys, best new artist and best rock album). The single «In the End» further received MTV awards for Best New Video and Best Direction. That was just the beginning of a highly successful career. In December 2002, the band announced it was working on new material that was inspired by the monasteries perched atop the towering rocks of Meteora in Thessaly, central Greece. The second album, titled «Meteora,» was released in 2003 and went straight to No 1 in the US and the UK charts and reached No 2 in Australia. In its first week of release, the album sold more than 800,000 copies. With producer Rick Rubin on board, Linkin Park recently recorded «Minutes to Midnight,» an album that was released in the spring of 2007 and sold over 600,000 copies in one week. The upcoming show promises to be more than interesting. For tickets, contact Ticket House (42 Panepistimiou) on tel 210.360.8366.
