From the clubs to campers
Adding to the growing number of picturesque and remote mainland locations being used to stage summertime music festivals – usually on riverbanks or by lakes – local authorities in central Greece will hold their second successive Plastira Lake Festival, located 28 kilometers (17 miles) southwest of Karditsa, between August 9 and 11. On the agenda are several established Greek acts who will be leaving behind the glitzy club surroundings they are more familiar with to perform to «campsite audiences.» The trio of Pantelis Thalassinos, Dionysis Tsaknis and Lavrentis Maheritsas will open the festival on August 9; Pyx Lax will take over alone the following night; and the three-day event will be brought to its finale by the seasoned vocalist Haris Alexiou on August 11. All shows begin at 9.30 p.m. Besides the music, the event’s organizers are promoting the festival’s leisure dimension, citing good swimming and free camping as options for visitors. Modestly priced lakeside hotel accomodation is also available. For further information call 010.330.6259 or 04410.79420.
