Rainy September cheered by new cinema releases

The weekend has arrived but the rain is still with us, a boon for the indoor cinemas and multiplexes that have sprung up in the suburbs. Winter releases are already opening, even though it is only September. For the very young, Stuart Little (a member of the Little family who live on Fifth Avenue opposite Central Park) has appeared in his second movie, telling the tale of a tiny white mouse adopted by an American family with two children. The novel by E.M. White is a continuing source of inspiration for Sony Pictures Imageworks. The film is directed by Rob Minkof, while Michael J. Fox provides the voice for Stuart, and Melanie Griffith the voice of Margalo, the flirtatious canary. In the dubbed Greek version, actor Constantinos Markoulakis provides the voice of Stuart, Marina Kalogirou the canary, and Pavlos Kondoyiannidis as the cat, here pictured out of costume at a party held by the Prooptiki film distribution company at the Athens College theater. An oversized version of Stuart is on his left. «There was a string of reasons today, first among them gloomy international markets. The bourse broke strong support levels and people automatically turn into sellers when this happens and we had OTE sliding,» said head analyst at EFG Eurobank Securities Chris Elafros.
