Battle of Ideas | Athens | November 13 & 14

The annual Battle of Ideas festival is coming back to Athens with two debates on Monday and Tuesday, November 13 and 14. The first will be hosted by the Hellenic American Union, starting at 7.30 p.m., and will explore the “post-truth” phenomenon and its impact on politics and our modern society. Do we really live in a ‘post-truth’ society, in which ‘objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief’? If so, what does that mean for politics and democracy? The second, at the Free Thinking Zone starting at 7 p.m., debates the question of whether there is such a thing as good populism and bad populism. Admission to both events is free of charge.
