Medium-voltage industries call for gov’t intervention

Medium-voltage industries are calling on the government to take immediate action to ease their energy costs, saying that there is serious risk of them having to suspend production.

These industries currently face much heftier energy bills, adding up to a total of around 150 million euros a month.

At a meeting with Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas, representatives of the capital’s industry association (SVAP) proposed a series of possible measures, such as an exemption from the levy on gas emissions for industries that produce their own energy through renewable sources and those that have a zero energy footprint on the environment.
