Rebound lifts stocks 1 pct

Greek stocks rebounded on Tuesday, advancing nearly 1 percent as Hellenic Postbank (TT) led rising blue chips.

The Athens bourse?s benchmark general index rose 0.97 percent to 1,506.25 points, after dipping 2.5 percent on Monday. Major European bourses ended in the red on Tuesday.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index moved ahead 1.09 percent to end at 688.99 points.

TT jumped 6.35 percent to 3.35 euros, followed by OTE telecom, which advanced 3.76 percent to 7.78 euros.

Cement company Titan also performed strongly, gaining 3.98 percent to 17.78 euros.

Banks had a mixed session. National Bank dropped 1.32 percent to 5.96 euros and Eurobank EFG gave up 0.97 percent to end at 4.10 euros. Alpha Bank rose 2.26 percent to 4.53 euros and Piraeus Bank ended flat at 1.32 euros.

Turnover reached 71.8 million euros versus 74 million in the previous session.
