Bourse’s weekly losses near 7 pct

The small rise registered by stocks in Athens on Friday was not enough to make up for the weekly losses the main index incurred, which amounted to 6.77 percent.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 744.37 points, adding 0.59 percent to Thursday?s closing figure of 739.97. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index inched up 0.75 percent to 299.26 points.

Marfin Investment Group led the blue chips with gains of 8.70 percent, ahead of OPAP (up 5.31 percent) and Public Power Corporation (4.07 percent). Jumbo was the worst off with losses of 2.94 percent.

In total, 76 stocks moved up, 44 went down and 50 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to no more than 40.3 million euros, against 55.8 million on Thursday.
