Cream pie or cheese pie? Here is the answer

Lovers of the ?bougatsa,? or cream pie, are in for a treat, unlike fans of cheese or spinach pies, as the former will now pay less for their preferred snack than those picking up savory options.

The Finance Ministry issued a circular yesterday saying that the price of takeaway cheese or spinach pies now include a 23 percent value-added tax, while that of cream pies and other sweet pastries will only be 13 percent.

The circular added that the 23 percent VAT rate will apply to all such pies when consumed inside the store selling them.
