Saturn leaves local electrical goods market

German electrical goods retailer Saturn is leaving the Greek market with immediate effect by shutting down two of its outlets and passing on the other three to sister chain Media Markt.

The drop in the sector?s turnover by 25 percent within two years left little margin for profits for the two companies of the Metro Group, making the departure of Saturn fairly predictable.

The Saturn outlets at Syngrou Avenue in Kallithea (southern Athens), at Marathonos Avenue in Gerakas (eastern Attica) and at Stavroupoli in Thessaloniki are added to the Media Markt network, while those at Larissa Station in central Athens and at Pylaia in Thessaloniki are closing.

Media Markt is also shutting down its outlet at Palaio Faliro, southern Athens.
