Stocks end week in black

The low turnover registered at the end of Friday?s bourse session did not stop Greek stocks from posting healthy gains, in line with most European markets.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 671.43 points, adding 2.87 percent to Thursday?s closing figure of 671.43 points. The index climbed 3.98 percent over the week.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 3.35 percent on Friday to close at 272.35 points.

All but two blue chips headed north, led by Titan cement (up 6.18 percent) and Marfin Popular Bank (5.65 percent). Duty Free Shops shed 0.39 percent and Hellenic Postbank dropped 0.18 percent.

In total, 98 stocks registered gains, 49 posted losses and 24 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to just 34 million euros, down from Thursday?s 51 million.
