BoC capital raised causes jitters in local bourse

Bank of Cyprus?s failure to raise the 997 million euros it had planned, collecting just 594 million instead, created jitters on Wednesday in the local bourse, which is anticipating the share capital increases of domestic lenders.

All but four blue chips posted losses, led by Bank of Cyprus (down 6.19 percent) and National Bank (6.13 percent). Hellenic Petroleum outperformed with gains of 1.10 percent.

In total, 59 stocks registered gains, 81 posted losses and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 39.5 million euros, against 58.3 million on Tuesday.
