Local bourse posts fifth straight week of gains

Coca-Cola HBC, the stock with the biggest capitalization on the local bourse, helped the Greek stock market end the last week of the summer on a high — the fifth straight week with gains for the main index.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 646.82 points, adding 2.82 percent to Thursday?s closing figure of 629.10 points. On a weekly basis it added 0.43 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 2.83 percent on Friday to close at 233.66 points.

Coca-Cola fizzed up 6.14 percent, but Piraeus Bank fared even better, adding 6.30 percent. METKA gave up 3.18 percent.

In total, 64 stocks posted gains, 48 registered losses and 21 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 22.4 million euros, up from Thursday?s 15.7 million.
