ATHEX racks up seventh week of stock gains

The Greek bourse continued its rising streak for a seventh week in a row, a record not seen again in the last six years, after posting small gains on Friday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index grew 0.17 percent yesterday to end at 743.01 points, against Thursday?s 741.76 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 0.09 percent to close at 276.76 points.

Gaming company OPAP dropped by 16.56 percent, the most in 11 years after Kathimerini?s report that the European Commission may ask for the company?s land-based games tax to be raised to adhere to EU regulations. OPAP wrote in a bourse filing on Friday it had not received any notification regarding any amendment of its tax regime.

In total, 54 stocks secured gains, 80 suffered losses and 21 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 104.3 million euros, down from Thursday?s 106 million euros.
