SDOE uncovers 3,290 violations at gas stations in first half of 2012

The Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) discovered 3,290 tax and customs violations during checks carried out at Greek gas stations in the first half of 2012.

The findings were part of a report submitted to Parliament by Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras in response to a previous report by independent MP Nikos Nikolopoulos.

In the report, Stournaras noted that checks at 408 gas stations had uncovered 186 offenders and 3,290 violations.

The Finance Minister further noted that checks were being conducted on a round-the-clock basis and covered the sector in its entirety, including production, storage, distribution and retail supply.
