Labor ministry database system shows hirings outpacing job losses in April

Salaried employment was on the rise in April according to Labor Ministry figures released on Wednesday.

Data collected through the ministry’s Ergani database system showed 29,298 more people were hired in April than those who were fired or left their jobs.

According to the figures, this was just over double the amount of people hired April last year, and an increase of 8,950 positions in relation to March 2013.

There were a total of 87,779 hirings in April, while 18,078 people were sacked, 20,843 workers saw their contracts expire and 21,560 employs left their jobs via voluntary agreements.

The Ergani database records the flow of employmemt across Greece in terms of region, sector, company size and contract type, among other categories, in real time.
