Greek firms wait an average of 337 days to receive their VAT returns

Greek businesses wait an average of 337 days to receive their value-added tax returns, Kathimerini has discovered.

The longest average wait is at the Thessaloniki tax office, where it takes 848 days for companies to receive their VAT returns. The shortest wait is 50 days at the Egaleo tax office in eastern Athens.

In total, the government owes businesses 1.1 billion euros in VAT returns.
