Moderate index decline brings week of stock gains to an end

A small drop suffered by the majority of stocks on Friday was not enough to alter the overall picture of the market during the week, which saw the main index expanding by 4.08 percent from the week before.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed yesterday at 836.98 points, declining by 1.18 percent from Thursday’s 846.95 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index contracted by 1.46 percent to end at 283.71 points. Still, mid-caps grew by 0.29 percent.

Jumbo stood out with gains of 4.33 percent, while Piraeus Bank was the worst off, shedding 6.53 percent.

In total, 49 stocks registered gains, 68 recorded losses and 24 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 45.7 million euros, up from Thursday’s 38.4 million.
