Tourist arrivals up 12.3 pct in first half of 2013, revenues also up by 18.1 pct

Greece received close to 5.5 million visitors in the first half of the year, up 12.3 percent on the same period of 2012.

The rise in the number of tourists also led to an 18.1-percent increase in revenues from tourism.

Visitors from the European Union spent a total of 1.9 billion euros, which was 7.7 percent up on 2012. Non-EU visitors spent 1.3 billion euros, an increase of 37.7 percent on last year.
