Turnover at Greek bourse continues to decrease

Stocks painted a mixed picture on Tuesday, as most headed south while the benchmark index posted marginal gains on the growth of energy stocks such as Hellenic Petroleum (ELPE) and Public Power Corporation (PPC). Trading volume was the lowest of the last 32 sessions, with dozens of stocks having seen near-zero transactions by the end of the day.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,145.09 points, adding 0.33 percent to Monday’s 1,141.33 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 0.41 percent to end at 380.88 points, but mid-caps declined by 0.24 percent.

Titan Cement added 4.48 percent, ELPE gained 2.13 percent and PPC climbed 2 percent. GEK Terna contracted 2.37 percent and Eurobank Properties dropped 2.25 percent.

In total 58 stocks posted gains, 75 registered losses and 28 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 69.9 million euros, down from Monday’s 73.1 million.
