Government to pay out 23 mln euros in heating oil subsidies this week

Almost 200,000 Greeks who have applied for a heating oil subsidy are due to receive their advances on Tuesday or Wednesday.

General Secretary for revenues Haris Theocharis made it known via his Twitter account on Monday that his service has sent the paperwork to banks and that the money should appear in applicants’ accounts over the next couple of days.

Some 400,000 people have applied for the subsidy, which is a substantial increase from last year. About 185,000 of those are due to receive the advances, which total about 23 million euros, this week.
