Local bourse gives thanks to OTE, OPAP

Turnover dropped dramatically on Thursday on the Greek bourse due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Stocks data painted a mixed picture although the benchmark index posted moderate gains thanks to the growth registered by OTE, OPAP and Hellenic Petroleum during the course of the session.

The ATHEX general index closed at 1,180.77 points, up 0.42 percent from Wednesday’s 1,175.82 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 edged up 0.18 percent to end at 391.31 points, but the mid-cap index fell 0.14 percent.

OPAP gaming company added 4.10 percent, OTE telecom grew 4.05 percent and Hellenic Petroleum rose 2.04 percent. Frigoglass slid 5.08 percent.

In total 51 stocks moved up, 73 went down and 20 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 69.1 million euros, a far cry from Wednesday’s 167.5 million.
