Fourth day of stock losses leads to weekly fall of 1.53 pct

In the wake of the impressive rallies observed in October and November, the benchmark index of the Greek bourse registered four consecutive sessions of decline for the first time in over six months on Friday.

The ATHEX general index closed at 1,177.34 points, shedding 1.09 percent from Thursday’s 1,190.31 points. On a weekly basis it contracted by 1.53 percent.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 gave up 1.04 percent to end at 385.99 points, although small-caps inched up 0.25 percent.

Frigoglass led the few gainers among blue chips on the day with a 3.19 percent rise, while Titan Cement declined by 4.41 percent.

In total 50 stocks went up, 76 went down and 18 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 86.4 million euros, up from Thursday’s 73.6 million.
