OAED to hand out benefit of 200 euros to long-term jobless

Manpower Organization (OAED) has said that it will start handing out an emergency benefit of 200 euros per month to most of the country’s long-term unemployed as of January 1. The additional stipend will be provided for one year after the expiry of the 12-month unemployment benefit.

The decision signed by Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis and Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras stipulates that the additional benefit is meant for people who have been unemployed for over 12 months, are aged between 20 and 66 years old, and have an annual family income that does not exceed 10,000 euros. This limit is adjusted upward by 586.08 euros for every dependent child.

Applications for the assistance should be submitted within two months after the expiry of the regular 12-month unemployment benefit.
