Mid-caps and Terna Energy steal show in bourse

A strong showing by mid-caps during Friday’s bourse session offset the losses posted by blue chips and helped the local benchmark end the day with marginal gains.

The ATHEX general index closed at 1,205.51 points, adding 0.05 percent to Thursday’s 1,204.96 points. On a weekly basis it gained 3.46 percent.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 contracted 0.43 percent to end at 396.52 points, but mid-caps expanded by 1.28 percent.

Terna Energy outperformed with gains of 9.05 percent, while Piraeus Bank dropped 2.58 percent.

In total 84 stocks went up, 48 headed south and 17 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 40.2 million euros, down from Thursday’s 57.1 million.

The market will reopen on Tuesday, after the Epiphany holiday on Monday.
