Cash deficit almost at 1.5 bln euros in year to end-April

The central government cash balance posted a deficit of 1.49 billion euros in the first four months of the year against a deficit of 1.27 billion in the same period last year, according to data released on Friday by the Bank of Greece, as both revenues and expenditure recorded a decline from the year before.

In the year to end-April budget revenues amounted to 13.47 billion euros, compared with 14.43 billion euros in the January-April period last year. This does not include the transfer of 55 million euros from state bond returns by the central bank.

The expenditure of the state budget amounted to 15.14 billion euros in the year’s first four months, down from 16.24 billion euros in the same period in 2014.
