Greece reaps 2 billion euros per year from cruise sector

The cruise tourism sector contributes almost 2 billion euros to Greece’s gross domestic product every year, the chairman of CLIA Europe and executive president of MSC Cruises, Pierfrancesco Vago, said on Tuesday.

Addressing the 3rd Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum in Athens, the Italian official said that this country collects direct revenues of 570 million euros per annum on top of the 1.4 billion euros of indirect revenues, with a third of that money going toward the maintenance of 11,000 jobs in the sector.
