Patra posts biggest annual rise in hotel rates around Greece

Hotel rates in Athens and Patra are soaring this month compared to september 2014, according to online data compiled by the Trivago travel website.

The average online rate for a double room in Athens has risen 18 percent year-on-year to 127 euros per night.

Despite this jump Athens is still trailing this month’s European city average of 150 euros.

Patra (pictured) has posted the biggest annual rise this month, at 22 percent, reaching an average rate of 79 euros.

Thessaloniki, Hydra, Rhodes, Corfu and Cephalonia have also seen big increases, while the biggest drop, of 11 percent, has been posted in Nafplio and on Spetses.
