ATHEX: Eurobank leap buoys Greek stock market

The growth of bank stocks continued unabated on Thursday – with Eurobank soaring 17.24 percent – taking the gains of their sectoral index to 40 percent in the last six sessions and the benchmark above the 700-point level.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 710.22 points, adding 1.62 percent to Wednesday’s 698.93 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 1.81 percent to end at 213.24 points.

In total 64 stocks advanced, 35 declined and 14 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 52.2 million euros, up from Wednesday’s 39.8 million.
