Elliniko redevelopment suddenly back on track

The project to redevelop the old airport plot at Elliniko, southern Athens, has returned to the fore, as the pressure to find additional state revenues as well as investments is increasing rapidly.

The government will immediately proceed to the appointment of a coordinator to promote the project, whose winning bidder is a consortium led by Lamda Development.

The state privatization fund (TAIPED) will appoint a new governing board for Elliniko SA, whose seats have remained vacant for months.

Local authorities now appear prepared to express their support for the project.
