ATHEX: Bourse posts small gains on selective buying

The selective placement of funds in certain stocks helped the benchmark of the Greek bourse start the week in the green, boosted by OPAP, banking and energy blue chips, and mid-caps.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 625.24 points, adding 0.35 percent to Friday’s 623.07 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 0.58 percent to end at 181.90 points, but mid-caps expanded 3.84 percent.

Terna Energy climbed 5.33 percent, PPC grew 3.81 percent, National Bank rose 3.33 percent and OPAP gained 3.14 percent, while Coca-Cola HBC declined 5.81 percent.

In total 55 stocks showed gains, 36 took losses and 17 stayed put. Turnover reached 294 million euros, against last Friday’s 165 million.
