Greece unemployment rate at 24 pct in December

Greece had the highest rate of unemployment in the European Union with 24 percent in December 2015, according to data released on Monday by the bloc’s statistical authority Eurostat.

The figure was still down from 24.4 percent in November last year, the data showed.

Eurostat's figures show that 1.150.000 men and women in Greece were unemployed in December, compared to 1.169.000 the previous month.

According to the same data, unemployment across the 19-country eurozone in February dropped slightly from January's 10.4 percent to 10.3 percent. Across the broader 28-country EU, the figure was 8.9 percent, unchanged from the month before.
