Hotel rates soar 8.3 percent across the country in July

Online rates for Greek hotels are showing an average increase of 8.3 percent year-on-year in July, according to data published by booking platform Trivago.

The average rate for a double room in Greece has risen to 131 euros per night, from 121 euros last year. In contrast, hotel rates in Athens have gone down this month: The average online price has fallen 10.6 percent from July 2015 to come to 101 euros per double room per night.

Santorini and Myconos posted 1.5 percent and 5.9 percent drops respectively, but the increase in rates on Crete ranges from 5.6 percent to 14.8 percent.
