TAIPED approves 45 mln euro Italian railways bid for Trainose

The board of Greece’s state privatization fund TAIPED on Thursday approved a bid by Italy’s state-owned Ferrovie Dello Stato Italiane SpA, for the sale of Greek railway service operator Trainose.

The bid for the privatization of 100 percent of the Greek company came to 45 million euros, considerably higher than original estimates, sources said Thursday.

Meanwhile, there were no intercity train or Proastiakos suburban services on Thursday, as unions continued strike action in protest to Trainose's privatization plans.
