ATHEX: Index rises but banks decline

Local stocks presented a mixed picture after an eighth straight session of gains for the benchmark on Thursday as most ended higher while banks declined.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 748.92 points, adding just 0.04 percent to Wednesday’s 748.61 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index rose 0.05 percent to 2,002.42 points. Mid-caps fell 0.65 percent. The banks index slumped 1.72 percent.

In total 62 stocks grew, 42 were down and 20 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 134.2 million euros, up from Wednesday’s 105.1 million.

The general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia expanded 0.73 percent to 74.12 points.
