ATHEX: Rise continues at the bourse

The growth of the Greek bourse’s main index without the support of the bank sector is a trend that has emerged in in recent days and continued on Tuesday, with the banks index underperforming compared to the market benchmark, which keeps hitting new two-year highs every day.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 827.01 points, adding 0.71 percent to Monday’s 821.22 points. The large-cap FTSE index expanded 0.73 percent to 2,188.07 points.

Banks grew 0.39 percent, with National increasing 1.47 percent, Eurobank rising 0.81 percent and Piraeus grabbing 0.44 percent, while Alpha gave up 0.45 percent and Attica declined 2.38 percent.

After its 41 percent slump on Monday PPC was unchanged on Tuesday, while ADMIE Holdings lost 1.28 percent. Motor Oil outperformed, jumping 4.01 percent.

In total 64 stocks enjoyed gains, 46 took losses and 22 stayed unchanged.

Turnover dropped to 90.7 million euros from Monday’s 94.4 million.

In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange rebounded 0.27 percent to 75.52 points.
