Athens bourse slips 2.8 percent

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark general index yesterday fell 100.55 points, or 2.8 percent, to 3,483.98, erasing most of Wednesday’s advance. The bourse had previously declined for 12 straight days. The FTSE/ATHEX 20 index of the country’s biggest companies slipped 2.7 percent to 1,870.33. Halcor lost 12 cents, or 6 percent, to -1.86 as shares in the metal processing company traded without the right to a dividend of 6 cents. Hellas Online slumped 56 cents, or 19 percent, to -2.44, its lowest since August 2007. The telecommunications provider plans to raise as much as -150 million in a sale of new shares to expand its network and market new products. Turnover totaled -244 million. (Bloomberg, Kathimerini)
