Workers march to save jobs

Workers from the Lanaras spinning mills held a demonstration in central Thessaloniki yesterday in an attempt to save their jobs and prevent the closure of the company. Holding banners reading ‘No to unemployment’ and ‘No to the closure of the spinning mills,’ about 350 workers marched to the Macedonia-Thrace Ministry. It is the government’s intention to keep the factories operating and to pay employees all the money they are owed, said Macedonia-Thrace Minister Margaritis Tzimas. The workers have called on the government to put up 35 million euros of finance needed for the spinning mills.
