Olympic Airlines cuts flights

Olympic Airlines will ax its loss-making Thessaloniki-Gatwick service and cut back on another four international flights to reduce costs, it announced yesterday. The route to London’s Gatwick Airport has incurred annual losses of 3.6 million euros. The company said it also plans to reduce the frequency of trips to Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Dubai. ‘The decision to streamline the flight program is dictated by the company’s major financial difficulties, the size of the available fleet and the adverse international situation caused by high fuel costs,’ the company said. The new flight schedule will apply as of September 14.
