Solar-power plants under development

EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas (right) is seen a few minutes before an energy conference started in Athens yesterday. Some 330 new investments in solar-powered energy sources are currently being completed in Greece, worth around 1.2 billion euros, according to government sources. The new investments will add 919 megawatts to the 1,100 MW already produced by Greece’s solar energy sources. As regards nuclear power, Development Minister Christos Folias told the conference that Greece has not included the energy source in national plans before 2020. He added that it is useful for Greece to take part in international talks on developments on the issue since neighboring countries intend to make use of nuclear power.
