Stocks give up 1.41 percent
The Athens bourse fell 1.41 percent yesterday as blue chips racked up the steepest losses. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index ended at 1,844.43 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 1.59 percent while mid-caps outperformed, giving up 0.85 percent. Betting group OPAP tumbled just over 4 percent to 21 euros. The Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, whose shares were upgraded to «buy» from «neutral» by Merrill Lynch, eased 0.86 percent to 11.50 euros. Among the blue chip winners was Eurobank, Greece’s second-largest lender, that added 1.05 percent to 5.76 euros. Turnover rose to 119.6 million euros from 82.4 million euros in the previous session.
