Tourism enterprises seek increase in bank funding
Tourism professionals yesterday requested the intervention of the Bank of Greece to encourage commercial banks to give them greater support. The president of the Association of Hellenic Tourist Enterprises (SETE), Nikos Angelopoulos, told BoG Governor Giorgos Provopoulos that Greek tourism companies are in dire straits due to banks’ attitudes toward them. «We will be happy if the drop in tourism is no more than 10 percent this year,» said Angelopoulos, calling on Provopoulos to exert pressure on lenders as far as he can, in order to persuade banks to accept more loan requests and stop charging exorbitant interest rates.
