Stocks fall on weak blue chips
Greek stocks fell 1.63 percent yesterday, dragged lower by weak blue chips. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index ended at 1,715.57 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped 2.24 percent to 877.76 points. National Bank slipped 2.46 percent to 12.68 euros and Alpha Bank lost 4 percent to close at 5.76 euros. Piraeus Bank also underperformed, retreating 2.32 percent to 5.06 euros. Among the winners was lottery systems provider Intralot, which advanced 3.26 percent to 3.82 euros, and Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling, which gained 1.92 percent to 10.60 euros. Real estate developer Babis Vovos jumped 4.96 percent to 5.53 euros. Turnover reached 103 million euros, down from 128 million in the previous session.
