Stocks fall as volumes ease

The Athens bourse ended 0.34 percent lower yesterday with buyers helping push small-caps into positive territory. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index ended at 1,469.41 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index slipped 0.15 percent to close at 718.41 points. Lottery systems provider Intralot tumbled 8.04 percent to 3.66 euros and Alpha Bank gave up 2.63 percent to end at 3.70 euros. Aegean Airlines took heavy losses, falling 8.24 percent to 2.56 euros after news that Marfin Investment Group (MIG) will take over its main competitor in the domestic market, Olympic Airlines. MIG shares rose 2.15 percent to 2.38 euros. The small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index added 0.35 percent. Turnover fell to 71.5 million euros versus 98.5 million previously.
