Mood still good with 1 pct rise

Stocks edged further up yesterday, posting a third straight session of gains, but it was still not enough to replace the losses incurred on Tuesday. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index rose to 1,926.54 points yesterday, climbing by 1.08 percent from Thursday’s close, although compared with last week’s final figure it showed a decline of 2.37 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 1.31 percent to close at 974.14 points. Hellaktor outperformed blue chips with its 8.45 percent rise, ahead of National Bank (up 4.26 percent) and Viohalco (also 4.26 percent). Heading down were the blue chips of Coca-Cola Hellenic (down 2.70 percent) and Public Power Corporation (2.52 percent). Turnover reached 147.9 million euros.
