Drop continues at slower pace

Stocks on the local market continued with corrections yesterday, although daily losses were for the most part contained as the bourse session progressed. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index dropped to 2,124.03 points yesterday, falling by 0.58 percent from Wednesday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 0.48 percent to close at 1,088.64 points. Nevertheless the mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index rose by 0.16 percent. The biggest rise among blue chips was for the stocks of Bank of Cyprus (up 5 percent) and ATEbank (4.48 percent). Worst off were the blue chips of Hellenic Petroleum (down 6.21 percent), Intralot (3.64 percent), Viohalco (3.27 percent) and Motor Oil (2.12 percent). Turnover reached 200.2 million euros, down from 307 million euros on Wednesday.
