Energy plant launched on Revythousa

Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis (second right) announced yesterday that the liquefied natural gas station on the island of Revythousa, in the Gulf of Megara, will have all its electricity demands covered by the operation of its new co-production plant. The minister inaugurated the unit, which has an output of 13 megawatts of electrical energy and 14.5 MW of thermal energy, on the island off the coast of Attica. The new unit has the highest production rate in the country, at 90 percent. Hatzidakis also stated that the government’s energy policy is focused on promoting major energy pipelines that secure the provision of gas to the European Union as well as the realization of a broader investment program aimed at greater penetration of natural gas use in Greece.
