Stocks rise but turnover drops

Stocks edged higher yesterday on the Athens bourse but turnover remained under 100 million euros for the third consecutive session, as investors seemed to be waiting in anticipation of a National Bank share capital increase. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index rose to 2,202.83 points, increasing by 0.72 percent from Monday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index climbed 0.94 percent to end up at 1,113.42 points. The highest earners among blue chips were Bank of Cyprus (up 4.22 percent), Eurobank EFG (3.72 percent), Coca-Cola HBC (2.81 percent) and Alpha Bank (2.29 percent). The greatest losses were for Intralot (down 2.02 percent) and Viohalco (2 percent). Turnover slid to just over 89 million euros, from 91.7 million euros on Monday.
